M2 is the digital media home of Joe Murray, multiple award winning DGA Director and IA 600 Director of Photography. Joe’s passion is telling authentic moving image stories, capturing honest heartfelt emotions and joy in captivating images. His work has taken him to all the major cities of the world and to the smallest corners of the United States. All though the geographies are very different, the common theme is the honest humanity that he captures in his images. Whether working with seasoned actors in a pre-visualised scripted narrative story or a non actor in a documentary/editorial context, every face has a unique story to tell and Joe has a very rare ability to connect with the person in front of the lens and reveal the soul within.
Joe is widely recognized as an expert in performance directing and digital cinematography and has conducted presentations and workshops for major motion picture studios such as Industrial Lights and Magic, Lucasfilm, and Pixar Studios, numerous world trade events and cinema manufacturers such as the National Association Of Broadcasters, Arriflex and Black Magic Cinema Cameras and major universities including University Of Southern California Film School and ArtCenter College of Design,.
Joe has enjoyed a highly successful career directing and photographing television commercials and digital advertising campaigns, music videos and still photography in the United States, Canada and Europe employing a wide range of major entertainment, beauty and sports talent including Jane Seymour, Cindy Crawford, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, The Grateful Dead, Randy Travis, Jackson Brown, Graham Nash, Little Richard, Johnny Miller, Greg Norman, Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Richard Petty, Tom Waits and Neil Young and many others. He has utilized his unique eye for story telling, extraordinary cinematography skills, an ability to create natural performances and musical sensibilities as well as his excellent technical acumen for a long roster of major international clients including Acura, AutoNation, Ford, Lexus, General Motors, Honda, Lincoln Mercury, Mazda, Nissan, Peugeot, Polaris, Budweiser, Coors, Dr. Pepper, Damm Beer, Miller Beer, APS, Callaway Golf, Cooper Tires, Florida Tourism, Folgers, Frito-Lay, Gatorade, General Mills, Gift of Hope Foundation, Jared, JC Pennys, Kay Jewelers, McDonalds, McGregor Sports, Ohio Lottery, Proctor and Gamble, Resources Global Professionals, RiteAid, Seven Up, Southern California Edison, The Affordable Care Act, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Zales and Dreamworks for which he won the Country Video of the Year award in 1999 for Randy Travis’s Spirit of A Boy, numerous award winning music videos and Dave Alvin Live At The Great American Music Hall which he directed and produced. He has also worked as a second unit and additional scenes director/director of photography on tv and feature films for Bad Robot, Warner Bros and Lucasfilm Ltd. most notably Star Wars:Episode IV A New Hope (1997), Young Indiana Jones (1998) and Alcatraz (2012) and HBO's "The Oregon Files".
